I was told that the Honest Kitchen products may be a little high in phosphorus for a dog in renal failure, even the preference. I have an older Shar-Pei that is in the later stages and was looking into it for her when she was first diagnosed.
I feed the Embark to my younger lab, but I think I'd be hesitant with a dog in Renal Failure. One food I was looking into with low levels of phos was Grandma Lucy's. Never tried it, but it's the same type of dehydraded food.
Good Luck
