[Dog_Nutrition] Re: Constipation in Pug

HI All,

Thank you for your suggestions on constipation in my pug. He's now in the Vet Hospital and has been initially diagnosed with Addison's disease which is manageable via medication/injections for the rest of his life. I actually ended up adding some dry kibble(Solid Gold) back into his diet with some home cooked meat/veggies and that worked very well for the constipation. The pumpkin had worked as well but then because of the Addison's disease he was losing his appetite so he would not eat anything with pumpkin in it. Thanks again and I'll keep you posted on his outcome but it looks to be a good one.

I was thinking of adding some fiber supplement - does anyone else run into this issue with home cooking for your dogs? He gets vegetables but I really have to grind them up or else he won't eat them at all so I'm not sure how much bulk fiber he is really getting. He definitely gets enough water. I also add some oatmeal into his food too for some grains but that doesn't seem to be enough to help with his occasional constipation. Appreciate any ideas you can offer. Thanks!
