[CDFC] Introductory Post (maybe?)
Hi everyone,
I've been here for awhile as a lurker, but I can't
remember if I've ever introduced myself. So...... ;)
My name is Karen. My hubby and I currently have 2 dogs: a
spayed German shepherd and a neutered English setter.
We're *mostly* feeding raw. I say mostly because I'm just
not too radical about it. I give our dogs our good table
leftovers such as whole grains (oatmeal and brown rice)
and pasta as well as salad greens and various kinds of
fruit. We also keep some high quality "all-meat" cans and
a couple of small bags of grain-free kibbles around for
those times when I get a bit rushed or lazy and forget to
defrost their meat. Besides, the dogs like eating it, so I
figure there's really no harm. They get a canned and/or
kibble meal once or twice a week. (I'd probably be drummed
off many of the raw lists for admitting that!) :/
We're using Merrick, Solid Gold, Tripett and Evanger's
canned foods, plus Wellness CORE and Orijen dry kibbles.
Oh yes... And we also feed the Honest Kitchen dehydrated
raw mixers and Bravo fresh-frozen raw diet food products
as well. When we started feeding raw, we started with the
Bravo and I've stuck with it as sort of a "base" upon
which to build their total diet plan. I guess I feel like
the more variety I can provide, the better for the dogs.
For anyone wondering, the Wellness CORE and Orijen kibbles
are EXPENSIVE, but the dogs absolutely LOVE them and will
eat them, dry and out of hand, as training treats. Bonus!!
Anyway, I'm glad to meet you all. I may not post much, but
I do read the list quite often. I hope I can contribute to
the general knowledge base here.
Cheers all!
