[Dog_Nutrition] Re: My ~$1 a pound food list....short....

Wow, what rude responses you got. This food seems pretty decent to me, I don't know what you could get that was so much better at petco for less money.
From what I've read dogs really don't derive much benefit from flaxseed, but people are all about it so companies put it in. Unless your dog is allergic to it flax is not a problem, as a possible allergen some people like to avoid it (and this food is aimed at allergic dogs) since dogs get little more than fiber from it.
I don't think Canola oil is as healthy as it's hyped up to be and it would be better to see only the salmon oil listed- but it's also a hard to avoid ingredient - most dog foods just have it as it's cheap and lots of people think it's healthy. Otherwise, a named meat meal is the first ingredient, and I can't see anything to worry about if the price is right.
The only food of their's that looks poor is the lite senior formula since I think taking away a dog's protein and giving it mostly carbs in an effort to give it less calories is not ideal. I'm no expert, but thought you deserved a post with some explanation of what people might be thinking when they say it's not good food.
