I'm in Upstate NY, and also have my boys on Interceptor. Since I also
have them on Advantix and Frontline(one on each...the Advantix made my younger
dog break out in sores! : ( ) they should also be protected against
fleas. I wanted to use the Adevantix since it protects against Mosquitos, but,
sure didn't want the sores along his back, so went back to Frontline. Vet
assistant said she had the same thing with her dog and the K-9 Advantix.
Ticks are TERRIBLE here and Dr. Shawn's suggestion to TREAT MY LAWN is not
feasible since we exercise our dogs on the property behind us...we are
semi-rural, and since I have German Shorthair pointers who really need to run to
get adequate exercise and get the WIGGLES out <G>, staying on our 2 acre
property, isn't going to do much good. Wish I could find a non-toxic
solution. This year, again, one tested positive for Lyme exposure, so back on
antibiotics. Hate that too!

mary beth....nursing Mendel back to wellness after he cut his paw on
something, yesterday, while running. sigh. Fortunately, it is on the side of
the pad and not directly on the pad like the gash our last GSP had from a
razor clam.
Like our breeder says, about the only way to keep them from hurting
themselves is to keep them in the house in their kennels...but what quality of
life would that be? they are gorgeous and fit and happy. guess we take the
lumps and bumps along the way. ; )
